נעמי בהט-רצון  נולדה ב-1.8.1935 בחיפה. היא אתנומוזיקולוגית, כוריאוגרפית וחוקרת מחול. הוריה, חוה (לבית אפטרוט) ואליהו רצון (רצרסדורפר) עלו מאנטוורפן ב-1934 והתישבו בחיפה. ב-1938 היו בין מקימי קיבוץ כפר מסריק ובו התחנכה נעמי בבית הספר היסודי ובמוסד החינוכי האזורי ״נעמן״. מגיל צעיר למדה נגינה בפסנתר עם חיים אורן ולאה שבט ובקלרנית עם מל קלר וכן מחול אצל ירדנה כהן בחיפה. את שירותה הצבאי עשתה כמדריכת תרבות. ב-1955 התחתנה עם אבנר בהט וב-1956 הם יצאו ללימודים במדרשה למחנכים למוזיקה בתל-אביב, שם למדה גם תנועה ומחול אצל יהודית בינטר, לוטה קריסטלר, רינה גלוק ואחרים, כתב תנועה עם עמוס חץ ופסנתר עם תהילה בית-אלי. בשנים 1969-1958 לימדה מוזיקה ותנועה בבית הספר של קיבוץ כפר מסריק ובאולפן למחול בגעתון, הדריכה את להקת המחול של חברות הנוער של הקיבוץ הארצי וכן יצרה את המחול ״במות בונים למלך״ למוזיקה של בן-ציון אורגד בלהקת געתון שקדמה ללהקת המחול הקיבוצית. 

 

ב-1969 עברה לתל-אביב ולימדה בקורסים של מורות לריתמיקה ותנועה ומחול בסמינר הקיבוצים. בשנים 1974-1972 השתלמה באתנומוזיקולוגיה בפאריס בבית-הספר ללימודים גבוהים של הסורבון, שם קיבלה דיפלום על עבודת המחקר ״מוזיקה ומחול בטקסי חתונה של הדרוזים בישראל״.  

 

מ-1974 ועד פרישתה לגימלאות ב-2005 לימדה בסמינר הקיבוצים כמרצה בכירה וב-1978 יסדה במסגרת בית הספר לתרבות התנועה את המסלול למורים למחול, שהפך להיות בית הספר לתנועה ולמחול ועמדה בראשו עד שנת 2000. מחקריה התרכזו בעיקר במוזיקה ובמחול של יהודי תימן בישראל; פרסמה יחד עם אבנר בהט את הספרים ״ספרי תמה״ ו״יענו בקול שירים״ – ספרון ושני תקליטורים במסגרת הסדרה ״אנתולוגיה של מסורות מוזיקה בישראל״ בהוצאת המרכז לחקר המוזיקה היהודית, האוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים. כן ערכה עם אבנר בהט עוד שלושה תקליטורים של שירים מדיואן יהודי תימן. פרסמה מאמרים רבים על מחולות של מסורות ישראל ואת הספר ״מחוללים — מחול-חברה-תרבות בעולם ובישראל״. בשנת תשע"ג (2012) זכתה בפרס שבזי, ביחד עם אבנר בהט "על תרומה מיוחדת לחקר מורשת השירה, המוזיקה והמחול של יהודי תימן ועל תרומה לחקר האמנות של עם ישראל״.

Naomi Bahat-Ratzon, Ethnomusicologist and Dance Researcher, was born in Haifa in 1.8.1935.

Her parents, Chava (born Aptrot) and Eliahu Ratzon (formerly Ratzersdorfer) came to Israel from Antwerpen in 1934 and settles in Haifa. In 1938 they were among the founders of kibbutz Kfar Masaryk in which Naomi was educated in elementary school and then in the regional secondary school Na’aman.

 

She studied in Haifa piano with Haim Oren and Lea Shevat, clarinet with Mel Keller and dance with Yardena Cohen. Her military service she did as culture mentor. In 1955 she married Avner Bahat and in 1956 they went to study in the Music Teachers Training College in Tel-Aviv, where she also studied movement and dance with Yehudit Bineter, Lotte Kristeler, Rina Gluck, Amos Chetz and others. 

 

In 1958-1969 she taught music and movement in the Kfar Masaryk school and in the dance studio in Ga’aton. She guided the Dance Group of the youth companies of the Kibbutz Artzi and created the dance ״Building a king's stage״ to music by Ben-Zion Orgad in the Ga’aton dance troupe that preceded the Kibbutz Dance Company.

In 1969 she moved to Tel-Aviv and taught there rhythmics teachers and movement and dance in the Kibbutzim College. 

In 1972-1974 she studied ethnomusicology in the Ecole des Hautes Etudes of the Sorbonne University, where she got a diploma for her work The Music and Dance in Wedding Ceremonies in Druze Villages in Israel (Musique et Mouvement dans les Cérémonies de Mariage chez les Druzes en Israël). 

 

In 2012 she got the Shabazi Price together with Avner Bahat for “a special contribution to the research of the music and dance legacy of the Yemenite Jews and the art of the Jewish people”. She edited with Avner Bahat four records of the Diwan songs of the Yemenite Jews.

 

She published many articles on ethnic music and dance in Israel, and the following books: Meholelim [People Dancing – Dance-Society-Culture in the World and in Israel (Hebrew, English contents and summary), Carmel, Jerusalem. Beregel Yechefa [Barefooted] (Editor and two articles) – Jewish-Yemenite Tradition in Israeli Dance, E’ele Betamar & Inbal, Tel-Aviv (Hebrew; English Introduction).
